Susann's journey with Community Gateway began four years ago. At that time, she was grieving the loss of her beloved partner, Troy and struggling with her weight.

Jump to now and Sue is thriving. She has been living in shared accommodation for a year, has lost 60kg and visits our Wollongong Hub regularly to join in the cooking and craft classes.
Sue’s Community Worker, Gayleen is proud of the progress Sue continues to make, “She lives a stone’s throw from the Botanical Gardens, can hop on the free shuttle bus which takes her straight into town, and is taking much better care of herself these days.”
Sue says she is grateful for the opportunities that have come her way since visiting Community Gateway, “I can’t imagine being anywhere else, I love Community Gateway.”
“I visit the Hub 3 times each week for classes and then on Thursday Gayleen and I go walking. We park at Woonona Beach and walk all the way to Bellambi and back. Sometimes I can be a bit sluggish and get cramps but I know the exercise is good for me.”
Sue’s goals for the next few months include getting back into swimming, “I’m keen to keep up my fitness and enjoy Summer. When the weather is good, I swim in the Bellambi ocean pools with Gayleen. I got myself a pool noodle and the water is good for my legs.”
